Dry Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a type of alternative medicine that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction using a vacuum pistol. Cupping is the reverse of massage and rather than applying pressure to muscles, suction is used to draw tissues, muscles and skin upwards. The cups are used by applying massage oil or lotion to the skin and the cups are then applied to selected areas where they remain "fixed" for a short time or they may also be moved in a gliding, spreading or rotating technique.
Cupping is able to reach deep into the soft tissue, organs and joints to promote relaxation, increased circulation and range of motion. Cupping can help to decrease muscle tension by breaking down fascial restrictions, scar tissue and adhesions. It can also encourage healing and immunity, detoxification and lymph drainage.
